My new book which describes the disc engine, its history, that of the family who built it, and of their flax mill which has now survived 200 years has recently been published. It significantly both expands and updates the knowledge we have of this engine, why it was built in the first place and the flaws in the design that were inherent. It relates the extraordinary success of its steam powered successors until the faults became evident to all. It is an excellent permanent record of this lost chapter in engineering history.
