This animation first appeared on the Practical Machinist website. I am very grateful to Bill Todd, who developed it, for allowing me to reproduce it here. It clearly shows the principle of nutation. Note the slot in the disc moving up and down the radial web. It is convincing evidence that whilst it drives the crank around, the disc itself does not rotate.
